About The Write Routes
Devin Nealy is a writer, artist, and creator of The Write Routes.
The Write Routes was conceived with one purpose in mind: to create entertaining and intelligent content that heightens engagement for brands and entertainment publications with an eye toward the comic book, film, and pop culture space.
Why are we so focused on comics, anime, and film?
Aside from their role as entertainment, stories exist to teach us about ourselves. You can tell a child not to procrastinate with a varying degree of success. Or you can tell her the story of the Tortoise and the Hare to conceal the message in an exciting fable that will continually impart the lesson throughout her life. At the Write Routes, we see entertainment, especially that of the mythical variety, as modern mythology that should be spoken of as reverently as the classics.
Unlike fables that teach children how to live in the world, myths teach adults about our relationship to the world.

“Every myth is psychologically symbolic. Its narrative and images are to be read, therefore, not literally, but as metaphors.”
-Joseph Campbell
The Write Routes democratizes modern myth for the masses.
If you've ever finished a story and wondered, "what did that mean," there's a strong chance your readership has as well. A quick YouTube search for any Hollywood blockbuster will flood you with dozens of similar videos explaining the story's plot. In opposition, The Write Routes uses a combination of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, and various mythological structures to communicate the author's, frequently unconscious, intent behind the plot.
When you commission The Write Routes, we guarantee an article or copy that connects the subtle symbolism of the great cultural myths that stretch back to our ancestral origins and modern comics, cartoons, and films.
Almost every ancient civilization shares a flood myth, legends of dragons, as well as heroes with allusions to the sun, and our contemporary stories are no different. Is this coincidence, or is there a pattern in the language of myth? If you want to see what our favorite modern myths are telling us, click here.
